The House Debate competition took place this week, and was our most competitive round yet. All five Houses fielded strong teams, but Westgate took the crown with, the judges noted, their clear teamwork and strong sense of ethics. The teams debated the following motions:

Northgate vs Eastgate (Northgate proposing) “This House believes mobile phones should be banned on school property.”

Southgate vs Westgate (Southgate proposing) “This House would allow human cloning.”

Newgate vs Swing team (Newgate proposing) “This House would require all children to learn a musical instrument.”

Northgate presented compelling arguments to persuade the judges, whilst Eastgate showed superb teamwork in the continuity of their arguments. Southgate were knowledgeable and articulate whilst Westgate showed impressive skills in rebuttal. Newgate presented an impassioned argument against the Senior Debate swing team to round off the event.
