Financial Support
We seek to help parents in financial need wherever we can, primarily through free school meals, Pupil Premium funding for Years 7-11 and through bursaries for Sixth Form students.
Free School Meals
Your child may be eligible for free school meals if you receive any of the following:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit - your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
Applications are made through Gloucestershire County Council online at the link below. If you have difficulties with the application process (for example, if your address is not within Gloucestershire) please contact Pupil Premium Lead Ellen Holt on [email protected] to request a paper form.
Pupil Premium Years 7-11
If your child is eligible for Free School Meals or has been eligible for Free School Meals within the last six years, they are eligible for Pupil Premium funding. This is automatically processed if your child meets the criteria, and you do not need to apply for this grant.
Pupil Premium students and their families at Sir Thomas Rich’s School receive a bespoke offer; each family will be contacted to discuss the use of the funding and to agree the most beneficial way to spend this in support of the eligible pupil.
More information on the Pupil Premium Grant and how the school spends the Pupil Premium funding (which includes our Pupil Premium Policy and Strategy) can be found here.
Service Pupil Premium
Students who meet the following criteria are eligible for the Service Premium Grant:
- one of their parents is serving in the regular armed forces (including pupils with a parent who is on full commitment as part of the full-time reserve service, and also pupils whose parent is serving in the armed forces of another nation and is formally stationed in England)
- they have previously been registered as a ‘service child’ in any school census in the last six years
- one of their parents died while serving in the armed forces, and the pupil receives a pension under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme or the War Pensions Scheme
If you believe your child is eligible for the Service Premium Grant, please contact Pupil Premium Lead Ellen Holt at [email protected] with your child’s name, form and evidence of your service in the military (for example, a scan of your military ID card).
16-19 Bursary Years 12-13
Students within the sixth form can apply for the 16-19 Bursary Fund. More information regarding the Bursary can be found below.
